What is Wushu?
Wushu
is an important component of the cultural heritage of China, with a
rich content that has remained untarnished over the centuries. Literally
translated, “Wu” is
Military, “Shu” is art. Wushu therefore means the art of
fighting or Martial Arts. Wushu today has been systematized and organized
by the Chinese Government. It is the most popular national sport in
this country of 1.3 billion people, practiced by young and old. Its
emphasis has shifted from combat to performance, and it is practiced
for achieving health, self-defense skills, mental discipline, recreational
pursuit and competition.
Wushu is established as an international sport
since 1990, when Wushu was introduced as an official medal event
in the Asian Games. Since then World Championships have taken place within
56 participating nations. Wushu is also aiming for the Olympic Games
in the 21 st century. |

Shaolin
Wushu Thailand (SWT) is recruting its Teachers from the original
Shaolin Wushu Martial Art school in
Deng Feng City, Henan Province, China.
SWT instructors specialized in Shaolin
Kung fu which originated in the Shaolin Temple on Mount
Songshan at Denfeng in the Henan Province.
It was named after the Shaolin
temple. The founder of Shaolin Quan was said to be an Indian monk,
Bodhi-dharma in 497 A.D.. |
